Fourth Street was literally Sioux City's Main Street when shopping was concentrated in a six block stretch, mostly West of Jackson Street. The East end of Fourth Street was another matter entirely. With a large military presence during the war years, farmers and ranchers bringing livestock to the Stock Yards, and liquor by the drink illegal until the late 60s, Lower Fourth turned into the rough and tumble, steamy center of trouble and rollicking fun. This is a look at both ends of Fourth Street, from the folks who worked it, policed it and witnessed it. Twenty people were interviewed for this project. Produced by G.R.
